A meeting of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-42, Chandigarh was convened today under the Chairpersonship of Principal Prof. Anita Kaushal.
The IQAC comprises 24 members, including Sh. Jasvir Singh Bunty, Senior Deputy Mayor Chandigarh, Dr. Dalip Kumar, Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Prof. Arun Kumar Singh, and Sh. Lekh Raj (Section Officer) as external experts.
For the first time, two alumni – Ms. Aamiya and Ms. Pooja, both established entrepreneurs, have been inducted as IQAC members along with the President and Secretary of the Student Council (2025-26).
The agenda of the meeting was presented by IQAC Coordinator Prof. Lakhvir Singh, covering 18 key items. The house was apprised about various developments including:

Members including Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Dr. Abha Sudershan, Prof. Deepika Kansal, Sonia Sikand, Shweta Bali, Gurpreet Kaur, Sunita Rani, and Balwinder Singh shared their valuable views on the listed agenda items.
During the discussions, experts emphasized the urgent need for the Department of Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration to allocate a dedicated budget for promoting research activities in government colleges. This includes funding for conferences, seminars, workshops, publications, participation in research events, and provision of duty leave. They also suggested initiating seed money for research projects, similar to universities and aided institutions.
It was underlined that with the implementation of NEP 2020, robust research activities are crucial to secure higher rankings in NIRF and better grades in NAAC, thereby strengthening the overall perception of the institution.
The college administration expressed gratitude to Sh. Jasvir Singh Bunty, Senior Deputy Mayor, for his continued and overwhelming support towards the development of the college.
