Amritsar: BJP leader from the North Assembly constituency, Akshay Sharma, attended the 5th Kabaddi Tournament as the Chief Guest during the annual fair organized at the holy Tap Asthan of the revered Baba Dayal Shah Ji. On this occasion, he felicitated participating players and encouraged them for their dedication to sports.
The event was organized under the leadership of Chief Sewadar Bachittar Singh Sehna Wali, with the support of J.P. Sarpanch, the Gram Panchayat, and the local congregation. A large number of devotees, sports enthusiasts, and local residents participated in the fair and sports competitions.
Addressing the gathering, Akshay Sharma said that sports are not only a means of physical fitness but also a powerful medium to instill discipline, dedication, and positive thinking among youth. He emphasized that at a time when drug abuse has emerged as a major social challenge, games like Kabaddi, Hockey, Cricket, and other sports can play a significant role in guiding young people toward a better future.
He further stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government is continuously promoting sports and creating opportunities for young talent to excel. According to the BJP, a healthy and empowered youth population forms the foundation of a strong and prosperous nation. Therefore, encouraging sports tournaments and developing sports infrastructure in villages is the need of the hour.
Appealing to the youth, Sharma urged them to make sports an integral part of their lives and stay away from social evils such as drug addiction. He said that a young person who sweats on the playground is less likely to fall into the trap of drugs, and that sports can play a vital role in making Punjab drug-free and progressive.
